Hays County Emergency Information

Hays County Local Health Department today reports one new COVID-related fatality, a San Marcos woman in her 80s who was hospitalized at the time of her death. Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said there are 70 new lab-confirmed cases along with five new hospitalizations and 46 additional recoveries.

“COVID-19 is still here and still spreading in Hays County,” he said. “If you don’t need to go out, stay home. If you go out, the best course of action is frequent hand washing, wearing a mask and staying six feet apart from others.”

The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 4,203; of those, 3,000 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 1,178. The number of negative tests is 21,109. Schneider is awaiting results on 66 tests.

Hays County has had 98 hospitalizations; 24 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.

A COVID-19 Fact Sheet has been added to the County website: https://hayscountytx.com/covid-19-fact-sheet/. This document provides a glossary of terms and insight into methods and results calculations.

Hays County officials will soon be announcing details of permanent testing sites in the county.
