Hays County Emergency Information

Hays County Local Health Department today reports one (1) new COVID-related fatality, a male resident of Kyle in his 50s who was hospitalized at the time of his death. The health department also reports 41 new lab-confirmed cases. Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said there are four (4) new hospitalizations, along with three (3) hospital discharges and 60 additional residents now considered recovered.

“Hays County residents can work together to slow the spread of the virus,” Schneider said. “Simple, effective tactics include staying home if it’s not necessary to go out, along with wearing masks and social distancing in public.”

The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 4,045; of those, 3,024 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 999. The number of negative tests is 12,289. Schneider is awaiting results on 47 tests.

Hays County has had 89 total hospitalizations; 20 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.

A COVID-19 Fact Sheet has been added to the County website: https://hayscountytx.com/covid-19-fact-sheet/. This document provides a glossary of terms and insight into methods and results calculations.
