Hays County Emergency Information

Hays County Local Health Department today reports 18 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases. Epidemiologist Eric Schneider also reports 19 additional recoveries. The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 5,340; of those, 2,378 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 2,916. The number of negative tests is 23,897. Schneider is awaiting results on 26 tests.

Hays County has had 142 total hospitalizations and 17 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.

Schneider reminds the public that free COVID-19 testing is happening through August 29.

“Hays County, in conjunction with the Texas Division of Emergency Management, has two more days of free COVID-19 testing,” Schneider said. “This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to get tested and no appointment is needed.”

Free testing is taking place Friday and Saturday at San Marcos High School and the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center in Kyle between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at both sites. For more information, see this Facebook event.
